Greetings from the new Laureate

The handover completed, it now befalls me to post my poetic contribution to the term. Sadly, the back end of Trinity term was not necessarily a happy one for our brave Corpuscles. Those not battling with Finals were left with an equally serious problem; the College's plan to increase the rent by 9% for the following year. I was mandated by Seb at hustings to produce a 'Rent Poem', and it was under these unhappy auspices that I took up the hallowed mantle; my first poem reads thus:

Rent Poem, Trinity 2009

Corpuscles, I'm sure by now you're aware

God knows, enough emails were sent
that the College is tabling severe and unfair
proposals to hike up the rent.

The figure they're asking is 300 pounds
(which most of us just can't afford)
our rooms would be some of the dearest around
- an issue that can't be ignored

So now is the time, brave Corpuscles, to fight
with emails and other such ploys
and get behind Seb as he strives for our rights
in his role as the College Rent Boy

But joking aside, my friends, we must act
This rent increase just cannot pass.
The college officials must look at the facts
and stick their rent hike up their Assessment for the Financial Year 2011/12
